Med Surg/Tele RN - Post Surgical

• 12-hour shifts
• 36 hours per week

Unit Overview

• 15-bed adult medical-surgical/post-surgical unit
• Cares for post-surgical patients including ortho, urology, GYN/oncology, neurosurgery, vascular surgery, ENT, plastics, and GI
• May also admit acute medical patients with a short anticipated length of stay

Required Qualifications

• BLS (AHA)
• 1-2 years of acute care nursing experience
• RN must be able to titrate drips

Schedule

• Shifts: 7:00 AM-7:30 PM, 11:00 AM-11:30 PM, or 11:00 PM-7:00 AM
• Every other weekend required
• Every other holiday required
• No call or standby

Clinical Details

• Nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:4-5 days, 1:5-6 nights
• Common drips include heparin; nitro, Cardizem, and insulin are occasional
• Telemetry is monitored by remote technicians
• Charge nurse takes an assignment on all shifts
• Nursing assistants are present
• Respiratory support available includes CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow oxygen therapy; no vents

Floating

• Float required to other adult medical/surgical nursing units

Orientation

• 1 day of computer training
• 1-2 precepted floor orientation days based on skills

Dress Code

• Any color, clean, and professional

Additional Notes

• Clinicians must clock in and out at the facility
• If the clinician has ever worked for this facility, there must be an end date at least 6 months before submission
