Job Opportunity: Interventional Radiology RN

Location: Phoenix, Arizona
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

Seeking experienced Interventional Radiology Registered Nurses for a travel assignment at a large hospital in Arizona. Candidates with Neuro IR experience and Level I Trauma experience are required. ICU RNs with IR experience may also be considered.


Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Arizona
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Minimum 2 years of Interventional Radiology nursing experience, including experience within the last year
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications
  • Experience working with Level I Trauma patients

Orientation & Training

  • Pass/fail SIMs Lab on Day 1 of orientation covering:
    • Foley catheter insertion
    • Central line dressing changes (except certain units with modified requirements)
  • Additional education on lifts, restraints, and wound care policies
  • 2-shift floor-specific orientation

Work Environment & Details

  • 5 Angio rooms, 2 CT scanners, Ultrasound, Nuclear Medicine available
  • Cases include: chemoembolization, Y-90, GJ tubes, IVC filters, vascular access, angiograms, CT biopsies, ablations, ultrasound biopsies, thoracentesis, paracentesis, neuro endovascular stroke treatment (RN not assigned to neuro endovascular area)
  • Electronic Medical Record system: Cerner
  • Charge nurse role available
  • Support staff includes IR techs, CT, Nuclear Medicine, and Ultrasound techs
  • Telemetry and ventilator patients present
  • Hospitalist or intensivist coverage in-house
  • IV teams available for PICC lines and difficult IV starts
  • Respiratory therapy and pharmacy available 24/7

Schedule & Shifts

  • Day shifts, 9-10 hours (typically 07:30-17:00 or 07:00-18:00)
  • 36-40 hours per week, Monday through Friday with a weekday day off
  • Occasional Saturdays (1-2 per month) and possible holiday shifts
  • No on-call required for this position

Additional Notes

  • Strict adherence to sterile field protocols during SIMs Lab and clinical practice is mandatory
  • Candidates not competent in Foley catheter insertion or central line dressing changes are not a good fit
  • Scrubs provided by the facility

This position is ideal for RNs with strong Interventional Radiology skills, trauma experience, and the ability to work independently in a high-acuity environment.
