Registered Nurse – Med Surg Tele Unit

Location: Crescent City, California
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

Provide direct nursing care for patients of all ages on a Medical-Surgical Telemetry unit. Manage care of assigned patients and direct ancillary staff activities. Perform assessments, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans. Demonstrate leadership skills, including charge nurse responsibilities.


Shift Details

  • Day shift
  • 3 shifts per week
  • 12 hours per shift (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM)
  • Total 36 hours per week

Required Certifications & Licenses

  • California Registered Nurse (RN) License
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA or ARC only
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA or ARC only
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – AHA or ARC only

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in California
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Minimum 1 year of Med Surg / Telemetry experience within the last year
  • Experience in charge nurse roles
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross

Experience

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse (Med Surg Tele)

  • Immunizations or titers required for:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
    • Measles (Rubeola)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Hepatitis B (series or declination)
    • Varicella
  • Seasonal flu vaccination required during flu season (Nov 1 – Apr 30) or signed declination with mask-wearing requirement
  • Color blindness exam if applicable (in-person exam only)
  • Respiratory safety clearance required annually

Competency & Testing Requirements

  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam as applicable
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam may be required for Telemetry units
  • Unit-specific skills checklist required, renewed annually
  • ICU & Med Surg Tele RNs at certain locations may be required to take an onsite EKG exam after start
