Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Cleveland, Ohio
Unit: HVTI-Stepdown (Cardiac Stepdown Unit)
Contract Length
- 13 weeks
Shift Details
- 3x12 hour shifts only
- Rotating day/night shifts (7pm-7:30am / 7am-7:30pm)
- Shift rotation may be required to meet hospital operational needs
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 18 months permanent experience in the specialty prior to travel
- Minimum 18 months recent Cardiac Stepdown experience (travel experience accepted)
- Progressive Care Unit (PCU) or Progressive Care experience preferred but not required
Licensure & Certifications
- Must have permanent Ohio nursing license or compact state license in hand
- Required certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification
- Certifications must be current and renewed if expiring within 30 days of start
Prior Travel Experience
- Travel experience in Cardiac Stepdown is accepted but prior travel experience is NOT explicitly required
Holiday Work
- Must be available to work at least every other holiday
Testing & Orientation
- ECG rhythm recognition test and SafeMedicate pass required during orientation
- Pass/fail testing for EKG and medication dosing required for all bedside RNs (except OR)
- Unit-specific competency exam required within 12 months of start and updated annually
- Completion of facility-specific online training modules prior to start is mandatory
Health & Compliance Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, including Snellen eye exam (for candidates signing 4/11/2025 or later)
- Fit mask (N95) fit test within 12 months of start, updated annually
- Immunizations and titers required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (every 10 years)
- Measles (2 MMR vaccines or positive titer)
- Mumps (2 MMR vaccines or positive titer)
- Rubella (2 MMR vaccines or positive titer)
- Hepatitis B (titer, series, or declination)
- Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually
- Annual flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season
- Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually (instant drug screens not accepted)
Background & Screening
- Government-issued photo ID required
- Background check including FCRA compliant 7-year search required prior to start and updated annually
- Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required
- FBI and BCI fingerprinting required within 12 months of start and updated annually
- Fingerprinting must be completed within 48 hours of signed contract
- Education verification required for all candidates
- NURSYS license verification within 30 days of start
Employment History & References
- Application must include 3 years prior work history with at least 2 years clinical practice in acute care and similar area
- Two professional references required from employment within one year of start (manager, supervisor, charge nurse, or director)
Additional Notes
- Candidates must complete all onboarding modules prior to clearance to start
- Candidates must work with facility policies regarding latex allergies and other accommodations
- Candidates may start with fingerprinting results pending but must complete fingerprinting prior to start
- Candidates must comply with all facility-specific competency and safety testing requirements
This position is ideal for experienced Registered Nurses with strong cardiac stepdown skills and the ability to work rotating shifts in a high-acuity hospital setting.
