Travel RN Opportunity - Emergency Department

Location: Asheville, North Carolina


Position Details

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Employment Type: Travel
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks
  • Unit: Emergency Department (ED)
  • Patient Volume: High volume ED with >100,000 visits annually
  • Unit Beds: 101
  • Patient Ratios: Typically 4:1 medical; up to 7:1 on behavioral holds
  • Scheduling: Every other weekend; no block scheduling; must meet department needs
  • Floating Policy: No floating outside ED; must float within all ED sections
  • Dress Code: Navy scrubs

Required Experience & Skills

  • Minimum 2 years nursing experience in a Level II trauma center or comprehensive stroke center
  • At least 1 year experience in an Emergency Room setting
  • Teamwork mentality with ability to coach and provide real-time feedback
  • Flexibility to work across all ED areas
  • Previous experience with HCA Healthcare preferred

Certifications Required (Before Start Date)

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention)
  • NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
  • ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course) within 90 days of hire

Unit & Equipment Information

  • Tech support available for cardiac monitoring, triage, and unit clerks (day and night)
  • Equipment includes Baxter pumps and GE monitors
  • Documentation system: Cerner
  • Patient experience standards include AIDET communication, respectful behavior, and ongoing patient updates
