Registered Nurse (RN) – Med Surg/Telemetry (Nights)

Job Description

• Coordinate total nursing care for patients on medical-surgical and telemetry units.
• May be asked to work as a backup Charge Nurse.
• Participate in patient and family teaching.
• Provide leadership by collaborating with ancillary nursing and other patient care team members to maintain professional nursing standards.
• Float between Acute Rehab, Med Surg, and any unit within scope of practice.
• Nurse to patient ratio: 1 to 4/5.
• Average daily patient census: 22.
• Electronic Medical Record system used: Cerner.
• Orientation: 8 hours non-billable.
• Call-back, holiday, and overtime multipliers apply.

Required Qualifications

• Registered Nurse (RN) license in Vermont or Compact RN license.
• Active American Heart Association BLS certification.
• Active American Heart Association ACLS certification.
• Minimum 2 years recent experience in Medical-Surgical and Rehabilitation nursing.
• Prior Charge RN experience required.
• Prior travel nursing experience of at least 3 months required.
• Skills checklist for Medical Surgical nursing current within 1 year (document required).
• At least one supervisory-signed reference from the past two years of employment (document required).
• Must have own vehicle due to lack of public transportation in the community.
• Permanent address must be included in the profile.
• All requested time off (RTO) must be submitted and approved at time of application; no scheduling requests or RTO will be approved after offer. No more than 5 days of RTO allowed.
• Local travelers residing within 50 miles of the facility are not eligible.

Additional Information

• Block scheduling requests will not be considered.
• 48-hour guarantee is not available.
• Facility enforces a strict attendance policy: after 3 call-offs, contract may be terminated. Call-offs must be communicated to the unit supervisor at least 1.5 hours in advance.
• This is a small community hospital with 25 inpatient medical-surgical beds and a 10-bed inpatient rehabilitation unit.
• The hospital offers acute care, transitional care, hospice, physical therapy, and a therapeutic pool.
• Location offers access to outdoor recreation and is within a 3-hour drive to major cities like Boston, Montreal, and New York.

• Travelers must be willing to float to any unit within their scope of practice.
• Scheduling accommodations such as block scheduling are not allowed.
• Requests for time off must be included with the application and cannot be added later.
• This assignment is not open to local travelers within 50 miles.
• Own transportation is mandatory due to no public transit options.
