Overview

• Location: Kearney, Nebraska
• Contract length: 13 weeks
• Shift: 12-hour days
• Hours per week: 36

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Nebraska
• ICU - Intensive Care Unit (2 years of experience)
• ICU - Intensive Care Unit experience within the last year
• ACLS
• BLS
• NIHSS
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Driver's License

Unit Details

• ICU RN department
• 33 beds
• Average daily census: 16
• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:2-3 for adults

Clinical Responsibilities

• Titrate drips
• Read, interpret, and document telemetry strips
• Monitor and troubleshoot respiratory equipment from nasal cannula to vent
• Float to PCU and occasionally MedSurg, typically with the same patient ratio as those units
• May assist with 1:1s or floor support as needed based on census

Patient Population

• Trauma
• Cardiac
• Overdose/substance abuse
• Adult sepsis
• Post-stent
• Pacemaker placement
• Stroke
• Vascular cases
• Renal failure
• Heart failure
• Respiratory distress

Scheduling and Orientation

• Shifts: 0630-1830 and 1830-0630
• Weekend requirement: every other weekend
• Holiday requirement: minimum of 2 holidays within the contract period
• Orientation: 1 shift
• Self-scheduling is available for core staff; travelers are added in
• Block scheduling is not guaranteed

Additional Notes

• Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care departments
• If called back in while on call, arrival is required within 30 minutes
• RNs must pass an open-book orientation exam on Wednesdays with a score of 90% or higher
• RTO must be submitted upfront; additional RTO will not be approved
