Required Qualifications

• Active RN role for emergency department care
• 2 years of minimum experience
• Emergency department and triage experience
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS
• Must not have worked in a permanent capacity at Hancock Health within the last 6 months

Schedule Expectations

• Every 3rd weekend required
• Holidays may be required depending on department need
• No call required
• No block scheduling

Unit Details

• Emergency department with 18 beds, including 4 trauma bays
• Fast track area available
• Triage area available; travelers may work in triage after passing a triage test
• Mixed patient holds
• One room designated for psych patients
• Security present at public entrances
• Average volume: 67 patients per day
• Nurse-to-patient ratios: 4:1 and 5:1

Clinical Responsibilities

• Titrate drips and manage set-rate cardiac drips
• Interpret telemetry strips
• Perform blood draws
• Work with common emergency cases including chest pain, abdominal/pelvic pain, diabetes, hypertension, COPD, and minor injuries

Support Services

• Physician coverage 24/7, with a second physician available 12p–10p
• Charge nurses available during slower hours or with call-ins
• House supervisor available 24/7
• Respiratory therapy available 24/7
• X-ray and CT located next to the department

Orientation

• One 12-hour shift
