Overview

• Travel contract for experienced Labor and Delivery nurses
• Location: Sacramento, California
• Contract length: 14 weeks
• Shift: 12-hour days
• Hours per week: 36

Required Qualifications

• Active CA RN license
• BLS
• ACLS
• NRP
• AWHONN-Advanced
• 2 years of experience
• Must be able to float to MB
• Must be able to circulate C-sections
• Must be able to read and interpret EKG strips on moms in PACU only
• Must be willing to do all aspects of LDRP from start to finish
• Must be able to titrate drips

Unit Details

• Family Birthing Center unit: OB / L&D / PP (LDRP)
• 10 L&D beds
• 2 OR suites for C-sections
• 3 OB-ED triage beds
• 3 antepartum testing beds used for OB ED overflow
• 12 postpartum beds
• High-risk couplet care
• Common patient types include preterm labor, bleeding, inductions, cesarean sections, and hypertension
• Pitocin is a common titratable drip
• OB surgical techs are on the unit
• OB hospitalist is in house 24/7
• Neo is on call 24/7 and rounds daily
• Anesthesia is in house 24/7
• No vents on the unit
• GE Corometric monitors with Fetalink surveillance

Scheduling and Logistics

• Report is at the bedside
• OT and extra shifts are available
• Every other weekend required
• Rotates with staff on holidays
• Call response time is 30 minutes
• Mid-shift float to another facility is rare but can happen
• No in-house floating
• Scrubs provided

Additional Notes

• Travelers will work 2 of the 3 major holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s
• Holiday time off will be considered but not guaranteed
• Candidates may not have been directly employed by any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity, within the past year
• Need 2 supervisor references at submittal
• Copy of driver’s license is needed at time of submittal to validate legal name
• Baby Catcher / NRP role may be filled by NICU staff or L&D staff for the entire shift
