Registered Nurse - Progressive Care Unit (PCU)

Location: Louisville, Kentucky
Employment Type: Clinical Nursing
Shift: Night (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Hours per Week: 36 hours (12-hour shifts)
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

As a Registered Nurse in the Progressive Care Unit, you will be responsible for providing safe, effective, patient- and family-centered care. You will assess, develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans while supervising licensed and non-licensed staff. The role emphasizes evidence-based practice, quality outcomes, patient education, and mentoring/precepting staff within a collaborative team environment.

Key Responsibilities

Perform patient assessments and reassessments, making sound independent clinical decisions.
Develop, prioritize, implement, and revise patient care plans in collaboration with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
Monitor and document patient responses to clinical interventions.
Provide and evaluate education tailored to patient and family needs during hospitalization and at discharge.
Delegate tasks to licensed and non-licensed personnel; serve as a mentor and preceptor.
Participate in quality improvement, safety initiatives, regulatory compliance, and practice governance activities.

Required Qualifications

Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Kentucky
Minimum 2 years of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience, including experience within the last year
Experience in acute care and inpatient settings
Experience in supervisory roles
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
Experience with Epic electronic medical records system
