RN - Med/Surg - Travel

Location: Summit, New Jersey
Employment Type: Travel Nursing (Clinical Nursing)
Shift: PM (7 PM - 7 AM)
Hours: 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week
Contract Length: 8 weeks

Job Description

• Perform thorough, systematic, and accurate patient assessments across all age groups (Pediatric to Geriatric).
• Deliver competent clinical nursing care to medical-surgical patients, including knowledge and use of emergency equipment and procedures.
• Maintain complete and accurate documentation of nursing processes, patient progress, and patient education.
• Demonstrate professional responsibility, knowledge of policies and procedures, and identify areas for clinical and professional growth.
• Promote patient and family-centered care by responding professionally and courteously to patients, families, and coworkers while maintaining HIPAA confidentiality.
• Follow National Patient Safety Goals, including Universal Protocol and patient identification using two identifiers. Use safe transfer techniques and proper body mechanics.
• Understand conditions, procedures, and equipment related to surgical patients; individualize care based on procedure and anesthesia type.
• Take responsibility for prioritizing and directing patient care based on patient needs and condition changes.
• Provide pre-operative and postoperative patient education and assessments, including evaluating pre-admission testing orders for appropriateness.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in New Jersey
• Minimum 1 year of Med Surg nursing experience within the last year
• BLS certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing

Physical Requirements

• Must meet physical requirements as defined by Occupational Safety/OMS standards.
