Job Opportunity: Respiratory Therapist (RRT-NICU)

Work Schedule

Day shift
3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM)
Possible 4x12 shifts as well

Specialty & Patient Population

Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics
Work primarily in NICU, PICU, CVICU with pediatric patients
High-level care (Level 4) in NICU, PICU, and pediatric settings
May float to other pediatric rehab and NICU units

Required Qualifications

Valid Respiratory Care Practitioner license in Ohio
Minimum 2 years of experience as a Respiratory Care Practitioner
Respiratory Care Practitioner experience within the last year
NBRC certification
BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification
NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
Experience working with pediatric patients
Experience working with neonate patients

Compliance & Onboarding Requirements

Two fingerprintings required:
- One onsite at the facility before start
- One through the agency
Criminal background check (FCRA compliant 7-year search) required prior to start; must be updated if break in service exceeds 2 months
Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
Transcript/Diploma verification required
Unit-specific competency exam required within 12 months of start; must be updated annually
HIPAA acknowledgment form required; updated annually
Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming ability to perform essential job functions
Fit mask test within 12 months of start; must be updated annually (specific approved masks listed)
Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 6 months of start; annual renewal required
Immunization or titer proof for Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
Negative 10-panel drug screen within 12 months of start; updated annually
Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 31 - Mar 31); no declinations accepted
Two recent satisfactory pre-employment references required
Employment application must include 3 years prior work history, including at least 2 years clinical practice in acute care in a similar area
Unit-specific skills checklist required; updated annually

Additional Notes

Must carry a valid government-issued photo ID while on assignment
Online training modules (4-5 hours) must be completed prior to start on a computer using Chrome; cannot be completed on a phone
Badge pickup required prior to start after completing modules
All work history, including any prior positions at this facility, must be included in the profile
Scheduling and time-off requests must be communicated during submission and interview

Pros

Excellent management support. Most units are not large. Lots of stuff and even when they are short staff they do their best to help. It's been very comfortable and you never feel like you're dealing with issues on your own. They're always checking on you to make sure everything's good and if you need help or not.

Cons

Every unit is different for scheduling my unit does not offer self-scheduling for travelers. My schedule isn't terrible either. To get specific days off you have to request them ahead of time and they may give them to you. Our schedule is done every month and a half though so you really need to know ahead of time what day is your interested in having off or changed. Everything else seems good no complaints.
