Registered Nurse – Med/Surg Telemetry

Job Description
- Provide nursing care on Med/Surg Telemetry unit with potential to float to related units including Emergency Department.
- Rotating day/night shifts:
- Night: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
- Day: 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM
- Shift rotation may be adjusted based on hospital operational needs.
- Must work at least every other holiday.
- Orientation includes ECG rhythm recognition test and SafeMedicate medication administration exam; passing scores required.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Ohio.
- Minimum 1.5 years of Med Surg / Telemetry experience.
- Med Surg / Telemetry experience within the last year.
- Current BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- Current ACLS certification.
- NIHSS certification.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Government-issued photo ID (e.g., Driver’s License or State ID).
- Background checks including:
- FCRA-compliant 7-year criminal history search
- EPLS/GSA/SAM monthly checks
- HHS/OIG monthly checks
- FBI and BCI fingerprinting within 12 months, updated annually (must be completed within 48 hours of contract signing; facility will also conduct fingerprinting onsite).
- Education verification.
- Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming ability to perform essential job functions.
- Fit mask test (3M N95 1860 small/regular or 1870+) within 12 months, updated annually.
- Immunizations and health screenings:
- Tdap vaccine every 10 years (no declinations accepted)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray per protocol
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titers with boosters if needed
- Hepatitis B vaccination/titer or declination
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer with booster if needed
- Annual flu vaccination (no declinations accepted; medical/religious exemptions require agency and facility approval)
- Snellen eye exam within 1 year
- Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually (instant drug screens not accepted).
- References: 2 professional references from employment within the past year (manager, supervisor, charge nurse, or director).
- Employment application including 3 years prior work history with at least 2 years in acute care in a similar area.
Orientation & Training
- Completion of facility-specific online onboarding modules prior to start (must be done on a computer using Google Chrome; cannot be completed on a phone).
- Modules include training videos and tests; skipping videos will lock out access.
- Modules typically take multiple days to complete and must be finished before clearance to start.
- Facility covers cost of up to 4 hours of module time.
- Candidates with less than 6 months gap between Cleveland Clinic assignments may have reduced orientation requirements.
Additional Notes
- Candidates must be prepared for variable shifts and floating to related units as needed.
- Passing scores on medication and ECG competency exams are mandatory.
- Prior travel experience in Med/Surg Telemetry is accepted but not explicitly required.
- Candidates must comply with all health and safety documentation and immunization requirements.
- Fingerprinting and background checks are critical and must be current and compliant before starting.
- Holiday work is required at least every other holiday.
Work Hours
- 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week total.
- Rotating shifts between day and night as scheduled.
