Job Opportunity: CVOR Registered Nurse
Location: Indianapolis, Indiana
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Overview
- Role: Circulating nurse in Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR)
- Scrubbing not required
- Float to other OR specialties required
- Call requirement: Approximately 100 hours per 6 weeks, including 1 call weekend (Friday evening to Monday morning) every 6 weeks
- Shift: Day shift, 4 shifts of 10 hours (6:30 AM – 5:00 PM)
- Guaranteed hours vary by schedule:
- 8 or 10-hour shifts: 40 hours/week
- 3 shifts of 12 hours: 36 hours/week
- 4 shifts of 12 hours: 48 hours/week
- Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays during assignment
- Special clinical requirements include experience with heart & lung transplants, aortic dissections, and ECMO
- First-time travelers accepted if they have Level I Trauma experience
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Indiana
- Minimum 2 years of Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) nursing experience, with CVOR experience within the last year
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Experience working with Level I Trauma patients
Background and Compliance Requirements
- Background check within 90 days of start, including:
- 7 years of residence/work history
- SSN trace, county, statewide, national sex offender, FACIS Level III
- Education verification (may be pending at start if needed)
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
- Online license verification within 30 days of start
- Employment application covering 7 years with explanations for gaps over 30 days
- Minimum 2 professional references from recent employment verified within 2 years (must be from charge, manager, supervisor, or above)
- Skills checklist completed within 12 months and annually thereafter
Certifications and Competencies
- BLS (required)
- Other certifications may be required depending on unit (e.g., ACLS, PALS, TNCC) but BLS is mandatory for all candidates
- Medication/pharmacology competency exam required
- Unit competency exam required
- Color blind testing (Ishihara or equivalent) with 100% minimum score
Health and Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 12 months of start
- Fit mask test within 12 months (specific respirators approved)
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 12 months (including amphetamines, marijuana, cocaine, opiates, PCP)
- Tuberculosis screening within 1 year (PPD, QuantiFERON-TB Gold, or T-SPOT)
- Immunizations or positive titers required for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Varicella (no declinations accepted)
- Hepatitis B series, titer, or signed declination
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap strongly recommended but not required
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (9/30 - 3/31)

- Locals (Indiana residents) are accepted
- Indiana RN travelers in perioperative/OR specialties are exempt from certain state restrictions effective 11/30/2024
