Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse – Emergency Department (Night Shift)

Shift Details
- Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
- Weekend shifts required every other weekend
- Holiday shifts required as scheduled
- Floating within specialty as needed
- No pre-scheduled on-call shifts
Patient Population & Care Setting
- Emergency Department
- Patient age range: All ages (infants to geriatrics)
- Patient diagnoses include a variety of complex conditions such as behavioral health issues and trauma
- Nurse-to-patient ratio typically 1:4, up to 1:5 with lower acuity patients
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Maryland
- Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) experience, including experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Certifications:
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) issued by the American Heart Association
- Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure (NRP)
- NIH Stroke Certification (NIHSS)
- Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI)
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Background checks including 7-year criminal history, education verification, and various federal/state screenings
- Negative drug screen (9-panel or 12-panel + Fentanyl) within 30-45 days prior to start
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Fit test for approved masks within 1 year of start
- Immunizations and titers required or proof of immunity for:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (required for pediatric units)
- Measles (Rubeola)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (positive titer or declination accepted)
- Varicella
- TB screening: Negative QGOLD or TSPOT within 1 year or 2-step PPD as applicable; must be updated annually
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 6 – Mar 31)
- COVID-19 vaccination not required for this location, but documentation or declination collected for tracking
Competency Requirements
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam (score ≥80%)
- Age-specific competency exam (score ≥80%)
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (score ≥80%)
- Color blindness testing (required for clinical roles)
Additional Facility Requirements
- Security badge application within 72 hours of contract signing
- Passport-style photo with solid white or beige background for badge
- Confidentiality agreements and dress code review prior to start
- Completion of facility-specific orientation and training documentation, including Epic Portfolio Training Test Out form if applicable
References and Work History
- Two supervisory references within 1 year of start (charge RN or manager)
- Employment application/resume completed within 30 days of start
- Verification of previous 5 years of work history (attestation accepted if necessary)
