Job Opportunity: Outpatient Clinic Infusion Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Position Summary

• Registered Nurse with ambulatory infusion experience, specifically in outpatient chemotherapy infusion.
• Inpatient-only infusion experience is not suitable due to different patient acuity and workflow.
• Work setting: Outpatient Treatment Center.
• Charting system: Epic.
• Part of a Level I Trauma Center.
• Scrub color: Royal blue.
• Parking: Free.

Contract Details

• Length: 13 weeks.
• Shift: Day shift, Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM (5x8 hours).
• Guaranteed hours: Yes.
• Weekend work: Not required.
• On-call: Not required.
• Floating: Not required.
• Block scheduling: Not accommodated.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Connecticut.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
• Minimum 2 years of oncology nursing experience, with oncology experience within the last year.
• Experience in an outpatient setting.
• Ambulatory infusion experience.
• Experience giving chemotherapy (chemotherapy infusion).
• Infusion experience.
• Chemotherapy certification through ONS or ONCC.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC).

Certifications & Training

• Chemotherapy certification through ONS (Oncology Nursing Society) or ONCC.
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification (AHA or ARC).
• Additional facility-required trainings and attestations include but are not limited to:

  • Language Services Training.
  • CAUTI Education Training (except PICU, NICU, Psychiatry/Behavioral Health).
  • Suicide Risk and Environmental Assessment Training.
  • Stroke Education (except Pediatric specialties and NICU).
  • CLABSI Prevention Training.
  • Preventing Pressure Injury Training.
  • Patient Transportation with Oxygen Education.
  • Pyxis ES MedStation Training.
  • Baxter Pump Interoperability Training.
  • Patient Bedside Rounding (except OR, Behavioral Health, Ambulatory, ER/ED).
  • Ventricular Assist Device Awareness.
  • AME Blood Administration Module (except Case Managers, Behavioral Health/Psych, Home Health).
  • New Employee Orientation.
  • 21st Century Cures Act Module (required for RN except Home Health).
  • Chaperone Policy Training.
  • eCart Training Module (not required for Pediatric, Periop/OR, Outpatient, Case Managers, Home Health).
• Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required within 12 months (minimum 85% passing score).
• Color Blind Testing required (minimum 80% passing score).
• Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required for Telemetry, MS/Tele, ER, ICU, Progressive Care, PACU, IR/Cath/EPEndo/GI units (not required for NICU or Behavioral Health).
• ACLS, PALS, NRP, TNCC, CPI certifications may be required depending on unit (verify with unit description).

Additional Notes

• First-time travel nurses are not accepted.
• Pending license candidates require approval.
• Background checks must be current and include multiple components.
• Foreign-educated candidates must provide foreign equivalency reports and diplomas.
• Multiple mandatory facility-specific education modules and attestations must be completed, often via electronic signature.
• Candidates must maintain compliance with all health and safety documentation and training requirements throughout the assignment.
