Job Opportunity: ER Registered Nurse

Location: Orangeburg, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Details

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse (ER)
  • Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
  • Patient Ratios: Based on acuity
  • Floating: Required to float within scope to meet facility and department needs
  • Guaranteed Hours: Facility may call off 1 shift every 2 weeks

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in South Carolina
  • Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) nursing experience, with at least some experience within the last year
  • BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • ACLS certification
  • PALS certification issued by American Heart Association
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Experience with Epic electronic health record system

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Background Checks:
    • Annual background check covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
    • Includes SSN trace, state and national criminal checks, sex offender registry, FACIS 3, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, OFAC sanctions list, and state-specific Medicaid excluded providers search
  • Education Verification: Required; diploma or transcripts accepted as placeholder if verification pending
  • Licensure Verification: Primary source verification required; NURSYS verification for RNs
  • Drug Testing: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
  • References: Proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations
  • Employment History: Verification of last 3 clinical employers (or all if fewer than 3)
  • Photo for Badge: Clear, passport-style photo with solid light background, frontal view, business casual attire, no hats or sunglasses; must be submitted by Wednesday prior to start
  • Facility-Specific Documents:
    • Completion of job description prior to start
    • Completion of orientation modules (approx. 2 hours, must be done on computer/laptop before orientation)
    • First Day Instructions and OurDay modules (4-6 hours) must be completed before start; includes uploading COVID and flu vaccine documentation if applicable

Health & Safety Requirements

  • Physical Exam: Initial and annual physical exam attesting ability to meet job demands
  • Immunizations & Titers:
    • Tdap within 10 years or declination form required
    • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella: Positive titer or vaccination series required; low titers require boosters
    • Hepatitis B: Titer, vaccine series, or declination required
  • TB Testing: Negative T-spot or Q-Gold within 90 days of start; if positive, chest x-ray documentation required
  • Flu Vaccine: Required during flu season (Aug 1 – Mar 31); medical/religious exemptions accepted but no declinations; documentation must be uploaded by December 5 deadline
  • COVID-19 Vaccination: Not required but highly preferred; vaccination records must be uploaded or declination form completed
  • Respirator Clearance: Annual medical clearance required for respirator use; fit testing done onsite during orientation
  • Drug Screening: 10-panel urine drug screen within 90 days of start

  • Hurricane Season: Travelers may be assigned to emergency response teams during June-November; peak activity in August and September
