PCU RN for Open Heart Progressive Care

Role

• Travel/Contract Registered Nurse in PCU for Open Heart Progressive Care (6 Front Pod B)
• 29-bed progressive care unit for post-op open heart and other cardio thoracic post-surgical patients requiring cardiac monitoring; accepts Med/Surg Overflow

Schedule

• Night shift: 7:00 PM–7:00 AM
• 3x12 or 4x12 schedule
• Every other weekend required
• Float within scope as needed
• 36- or 48-hour contract options
• 36 hours guaranteed

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in West Virginia
• PCU - Progressive Care Unit (2 years of experience)
• PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience within the last year
• ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support issued by American Heart Association
• BLS - Basic Life Support issued by American Heart Association
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Chest tube insertion assistance, management, and removal experience
• Central line experience
• External and internal pacemaker experience
• Wound vac experience

Unit / Clinical Details

• 4:1 patient ratio
• Orientation held every other week on Thursday
• Open to accommodating blocked schedule requests
• Limit holiday RTO requests to no more than 1 of the 3 major holidays

Additional Notes

• Clinician can be floated within scope to meet facility needs
• 100-mile radius rule applies; 75–99 miles may be sent for facility approval
• Permanent employees cannot return as travelers for 3 years after last date worked as a permanent employee
• Flu shot is required unless a medical exemption is approved
• COVID vaccination is required unless a medical or religious exemption is approved
