Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - ER
Location

- Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift Details
- Night shift: 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM (12-hour shifts)
- 36 or 48 hours per week accepted
- Weekend coverage: Every other weekend

Required Certifications
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
Required Experience
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience in specialty
- Previous charge nurse experience preferred
- Unit accepts first-time travel nurses (prior travel experience not required)
Required Skills
- Triage
Medication & Documentation Systems
- Medication systems: Accudose & Omnicell
- Documentation system: Cerner
- Communication system: SBAR
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Connecticut
- Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- ACLS certification
- BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or Appalachian Regional Healthcare
- CPI certification
- PALS certification
- TNCC certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Background & Health Requirements
- Standard background checks including 7-year residential/work history and state-specific exclusion lists
- Physical exam within 1 year signed by NP, PA, or DO
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year (updated annually)
- Required immunizations or positive titers for: Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B (or declination)
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 1 year
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required annually
- COVID-19 vaccination required; medical or religious exemptions may be submitted for approval
Additional Requirements
- Two professional references within 3 years of start date
- Photo for badge required
- Compliance with facility hand hygiene and infection control policies

- Dark blue scrubs

Pros
Staff and administration are very warm and supportive. Free parking. Great place to work because it’s the staff that makes the big difference.
Cons
Outdated Cerner program and slow computer, scanner, signal system is poor, supply of IV pumps not readily available. No tube system. Need modernization of existing equipments and infrastructure specifically dumping of waste on each room in ICU.
