Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse
Location: Aurora, Colorado
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: Nights (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 18:45 to 7:15)
- Hours per Week: 36
- Weekend Requirements: As needed
- On-Call: No
- Patient Ratio: 1:1
- Float Requirement: Yes, must float within scope to other Operating Room units
- Types of Cases: General, GU/GYN, Neuro, ENT, Plastic Surgery
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Colorado
- Minimum 3 years of Operating Room (OR) experience, including experience within the last year
- One completed travel assignment
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Trauma experience
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
Important Notes
- Candidates who have completed a full year on assignment at this facility are not eligible for rebooking for at least one year.
- Maximum of 10 Return to Office (RTO) days approved; RTO not allowed during specified blackout periods in 2026 (late June to early July, early September, late October to early November). Flexibility may be considered for harder-to-fill positions.
- Guaranteed hours are not provided.
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Background Checks:
- 7-year background check including SSN trace, Colorado state and national checks, education verification from accredited nursing schools, and various federal sanction lists.
- Health Requirements:
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, DO, NP, or PA
- Fit mask test within 12 months, updated annually (specific 3M masks required)
- Immunizations and titers: TDAP (within 10 years), Negative TB test or chest X-ray, MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella), Hepatitis B, Varicella, COVID vaccine or signed declination
- Drug testing within 30 days of start, updated annually
- Color blind exam (Ishihara test) required prior to start
- Certifications & Competencies:
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam (updated annually)
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (updated annually)
- Core competency exams (Parts I, II, III) and OSHA mandatory training (updated annually)
- Licensure Verification:
- NURSYS verification required within 60 days of start
- References & Employment History:
- Two references from the last two years, including one from the past year, from charge RN, manager, or supervisor
- Employment history verification for the last 3 years with explanations for gaps over 30 days
Additional Facility-Specific Requirements
- Completion of facility-specific new employee orientation modules within the first two weeks of assignment
- Annual release authorization for Colorado CAPS background check with 5 years of address history
- Employee data sheet to be completed within 24 hours of signing
This position is ideal for experienced Operating Room Registered Nurses with trauma experience and prior travel assignments who are comfortable working night shifts and floating within OR units.
