Job Description
- Work in a fast-paced acute inpatient rehabilitation setting.
- Treat patients with stroke, spinal cord injury (SCI), amputee, and general rehab populations.
- Facility operates a CARF-accredited rehabilitation program.
- Typical shift: 5 days a week, 8 hours per day (either 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM or 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM).
- Preferred schedule: Tuesday through Saturday; Monday through Friday candidates considered if willing to work one or two Saturdays per month and flex a weekday off.
- Weekend requirement: One weekend day per month.
- Float duties as needed.
- Cerner/MedConnect experience preferred.
- Scrub color restrictions: Any color except nursing blue/white combination.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Occupational Therapist license in Maryland.
- Minimum 3 years of Occupational Therapist experience, including experience within the last year.
- Experience in inpatient and rehabilitation settings.
- Completion of at least one prior travel assignment.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- Certified in Continuous Electronic Fetal Monitoring (C-EFM) and Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM).
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Valid driver’s license if driving is an essential job function.
- Criminal background check within 90 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years.
- I9/E-Verify attestation required prior to start.
- Drug screen within 90 days of start (does not include marijuana).
- Annual physical exam confirming ability to perform job duties without accommodations and free from communicable disease.
- Immunizations and health documentation required:
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year (with additional requirements if history of TB).
- Documentation of MMR (measles, mumps, rubella) vaccines or positive titers.
- Varicella vaccine or positive titer.
- Hepatitis B titer, series, or signed declination.
- Tdap vaccine within 10 years preferred.
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption during flu season.
- Photo for badge with specific requirements (clear, well-lit, no glare on glasses, solid background).
- Completion of facility-specific orientation modules prior to start.
Experience & References
- Two positive supervisory references required, including one from the most recent assignment, supporting at least 2 years of experience within the last 3 years.
- Complete 7 years of work history with no gaps, including education, employment, license, and contact information.
Additional Notes
- Candidates must pass medication/pharmacology competency exams and other competency assessments as required.
- Candidates should be prepared for annual updates of certain certifications and competencies.
- Screening for missing skills or experience is critical; therapy travelers should not be redirected or declined unless submitted to the wrong discipline.
This position offers a structured day shift schedule in a reputable inpatient rehab setting, requiring solid clinical experience and prior travel assignment completion.
