Job Opportunity: IMC Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Springfield, Illinois
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (6:45 AM – 7:15 PM)
Hours per Week: 36 hours
Job Description
- Work setting: Intermediate Care Unit (IMC) / Stepdown / Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
- Patient ratios and daily caseload apply
- Weekend requirement: Work every other weekend
- Floating: May float within scope to meet facility needs
- Block scheduling: Possible, discuss with manager
- Locals accepted without radius restrictions
- No pending licenses accepted; must have active Illinois RN license
- Return to Office (RTO) restrictions: Ideally no more than 5 days onsite per week
- Guaranteed hours: Client may cancel up to 36 hours per 13-week assignment without pay obligation
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Illinois
- Intermediate Care experience with a minimum of 1 year, including experience within the last year
- BLS issued by American Heart Association
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Pre/Post Hemodialysis management and renal failure care
- PICC line management
- Procedural sedation administration
- Ability to titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips
- Experience caring for patients with craniotomy, CVA, pre/post neurosurgery, spinal cord injury, and traumatic brain injury
- Orthopedic trauma care including peripheral nerve block catheters and total joint replacements
- Skin graft care
- Experience with external CPAP/BIPAP
- Telemetry experience
- Neuro PCU / Progressive Care Unit experience
Clinical Skills and Experience Requirements
- Work Setting Experience: Telemetry, Neuro Stepdown, PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown units
- Cardiac Monitoring & Emergency Response:
- Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
- Telemetry monitoring on unit
- Use of Rapid Response Teams
- Cardiovascular Care:
- Post cardiac angiogram, MI, cardiac catheterization, and surgery care
- Sheath removal and TR Band management
- Gastrointestinal: Feeding tube care and management
- Genitourinary/Renal: Pre/post hemodialysis management, renal failure care
- IV Therapy/Phlebotomy:
- Accessing ports, arterial line management, blood product administration
- Central line, PICC line, peripheral line care and management
- Phlebotomy and IV starts
- Medication Management:
- Heparin protocols
- Management and titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips
- PCA and procedural sedation administration
- Neurological/Psychiatric:
- Care for craniotomy, CVA, neurosurgery, spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury
- Orthopedics: Ortho trauma, peripheral nerve block catheters, total joint replacements
- Plastic Surgery: Skin grafts, surgical drains
- Respiratory Care:
- Ventilator care, chest tubes (Emerson/Pleur-evac)
- External CPAP/BIPAP, high flow nasal cannula (HFNC)
- ABG interpretation, nasal cannula, oxygen masks, portable oxygen tanks
- Non-invasive airway management, tracheostomy care
- Professional Skills: Isolation precautions, wound care including wound vac
- Preferred Experience: Cerner electronic health record, teaching hospital, Level I trauma center experience

Orientation and Documentation Requirements
- Background checks including criminal, sex offender, and federal exclusions within 30 days of start
- Primary source verification of RN license and certifications
- Competency exam required for clinical candidates
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, including labs within 7 days of contract signing
- Fit mask test required (specific mask types accepted)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- Immunizations or titers required for: Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
- 9-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
- Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required annually
- Badge photo required before start
- Parking permit required (no cost)

- References: Two professional references required for clinical travel candidates
- Scrub color: Any solid color acceptable
- Charting system: Cerner
- No on-call requirement for this position
