Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse

Location: Oregon City, Oregon
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Position floats between units as needed.
  • On-call shifts required up to one shift every two weeks if census is low.
  • Weekend work required every other weekend.
  • No block schedules required.
  • Staffing ratios follow AWHONN standards.
  • Special requirement: Experience in Labor, Delivery, Recovery, Postpartum (LDRP) with postpartum care.
  • 48-hour shifts approved.
  • Shift: Night shift, 4 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM to 7:30 AM).
  • Facility type: Short Term Acute Care with 109 staffed beds.
  • Charting system: Epic.
  • Scrub color: Any color allowed; specific units (OR, Critical Care, ED, Maternal Child) provide scrubs.
  • Parking: No fee.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Oregon.
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
  • Minimum of 1 year of Labor and Delivery experience, with experience within the last year required.
  • Experience in Labor, Delivery, Recovery, and Postpartum (LDRP).
  • Current ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification.
  • Current NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification.

Experience & Skills

  • Experience in Labor and Delivery with postpartum care required.
  • Must be able to float between units as needed.
  • Familiarity with AWHONN staffing standards and electronic charting (Epic).

Schedule & Work Conditions

  • Night shift (7:00 PM to 7:30 AM), 4 shifts per week, 12 hours each.
  • On-call shifts up to one every two weeks if census is low.
  • Weekend work every other weekend.
  • Floating between units may be required.

Compliance & Background Requirements

  • Government-issued photo ID and Social Security Card required.
  • Background check within 90 days covering all locations lived/worked in the past 7 years; updated annually.
  • E-Verify attestation required.
  • Education verification required; international education requires additional documentation.
  • Drug screening: 9-panel drug screen within 12 months of start.
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO.
  • Respiratory safety clearance required annually for respirator use.
  • Immunizations and health screenings required:
    • TDAP vaccine within 10 years or declination accepted.
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually.
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer with acceptable documentation.
    • Hepatitis B vaccination series or signed declination.
    • Varicella vaccination or positive titer with acceptable documentation.
    • Seasonal flu vaccine during flu season or declination accepted.
    • COVID vaccination record preferred; declinations not required but unvaccinated must follow infection prevention protocols.
  • Fit mask test required for travel nurses, updated annually.
  • References: Minimum 2 references covering 1 year of employment in a comparable specialty/setting within the last 3 years.
  • Employment application covering at least last 5 years required.

Training & Competency Requirements

  • Medication test/pharmacology competency exam as applicable.
  • Competency exams required as applicable by specialty.
  • EFM training required for all L&D RNs, either by certification or fetal heart rate monitoring assessment exam.
  • Annual regulatory and specialty-specific training modules required via LMS.
  • Epic training modules required and must be completed within a week of orientation.

Additional Notes

  • Float policy acknowledgment required; may be required to float to other nearby facilities.
  • Badge photo required for identification.
  • Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position.
