Position Overview

Unit Details

  • Number of Beds: 101
  • Patient Ratios: Typically 4:1; up to 7:1 on behavioral holds
  • Staffing: Techs available for cardiac monitoring, triage, and unit clerks on days and nights
  • Equipment: Baxter pumps, GE monitors
  • Documentation System: Cerner
  • Scheduling: Every other weekend required; no block scheduling; schedule must meet department needs
  • Floating Policy: No floating outside the ED; must be flexible to float within all ED sections
  • Patient Experience: Emphasis on AIDET communication, respectful behavior, and keeping patients informed throughout their visit

Required Certifications (Must have before start)

  • ACLS
  • BLS
  • PALS
  • TNCC
  • CPI
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
  • ENPC (within 90 days of hire)

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years nursing experience in a Level II trauma center or comprehensive stroke center
  • Experience in a high-volume ED (>100,000 visits annually)
  • At least 1 year of ER nursing experience
  • Previous experience with HCA Healthcare preferred
  • Teamwork mentality with ability to coach and provide real-time feedback
  • Flexibility to work across all ED areas

Advanced Skills / Procedures

  • Specific advanced procedures performed on unit not detailed, but advanced skills expected due to trauma and stroke center status

Dress Code

  • Navy scrubs required
