Job Summary
The Interventional Technologist I assists physicians with minimally invasive, image-guided procedures to diagnose, monitor, and treat a range of conditions without surgery. This role is suitable for those gaining experience in Interventional Radiology or Invasive Cardiology or experienced imaging professionals starting a career in this specialty.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist providers during procedures such as cardiac catheterization, electrophysiology, angiography, device implantation, biopsies, thrombectomy, embolization, and pain management.
- Operate specialized radiologic equipment to perform diagnostic, interventional, and invasive procedures following scope of practice guidelines.
- Maintain sterile fields and adhere to safety protocols during procedures.
- Prepare patients for procedures and provide comfort.
- Act as a scrub tech assisting providers during procedures.
- Respond to patient and family inquiries regarding diagnostic testing and results timelines.
- Collaborate with healthcare team members to ensure exceptional patient care.
- Conduct post-procedure quality reviews and ensure documentation meets departmental and accreditation standards.
- Transfer images and data to electronic health systems and prepare studies for physician reporting.
- Perform equipment quality control, cleaning, disinfecting, and maintenance per regulatory guidelines.
- Assist with quality assurance, audits, and performance improvement activities.
- Provide on-call clinical coverage on weekdays, weekends, and holidays as assigned.
- Support academic partnerships by teaching radiologic students and mentoring new or less experienced team members.
- Assist with onboarding new team members.
Work Schedule
- 4 days per week, 10 hours per day (4x10 shifts)
- 40 hours per week
- On-call coverage required
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of a post-secondary health science program (e.g., cardiovascular technology, ultrasound, radiologic technology, paramedic/EMT) accredited by ARRT or CCI. Completion of JRCERT accredited Military Educational Program accepted.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association required upon hire.
- ARRT (RT), RCES, or RCIS certification required within 18 months of hire.
- Demonstrated knowledge of medical imaging principles, patient positioning, anatomy, physiology, and sterile field maintenance.
- Ability to apply theory and techniques to perform, post-process, analyze, and document imaging studies.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to provide age-appropriate care and maintain patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, multitask, remain calm under stress, and work effectively as part of a diverse team.
- Dependability and sensitivity to patients’ physical and psychological needs.
- Accuracy in record-keeping and data management.

Very nice hospital, I like the fact that I never have to put in orders or sign any consent form. The doctors do all this. There is a lot of hours. On the clinical side, there is a lot to learn. On my unit I got to see so many surgical cases that I never seen in my entire career only because I was on a surgical unit.
