RN (Registered Nurse) - Operating Room

Location: South Charleston, West Virginia
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Evenings
Hours per Week: 40

Unit Information

• Unit: Operating Room (OR)
• Number of Suites: 12
• Average Cases per Day: 30
• Common Cases: General surgery, orthopedic, gynecology, urology, ophthalmology, vascular, plastic surgery
• EMR System: Meditech

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years experience as an RN circulator preferred
• BLS Certification required
• Valid driver’s license with address outside a 50-mile radius of the facility (must be included with application)

Job Details

• Scrubbing is not required for RNs
• Charge Nurse role: RN in charge of each shift; Nursing Supervisor available 24/7
• Work alongside OR technicians
• Call shifts are required for evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays; shifts are 8 hours and rotating
• Call response time: 30 minutes
• Floating to Endoscopy may be required if not needed in Surgery
• Orientation: 2-4 shifts on unit-specific orientation
• Dress code: Scrubs provided from surgery vending machine
• Scheduling: No self-scheduling; employees collaborate to determine call shifts
• Preferred shift pattern: Five 8-hour shifts or four 10-hour shifts

Additional Notes

• Only one job submission allowed at a time within the related health system
• A 2-year break is required between permanent employment at the health system and travel assignments
