Travel RN – Behavioral Health Unit (BHU)

Location: Ottumwa, Iowa
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Position Overview

• Specialty: Behavioral Health Nursing (BHU)
• Shift: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
• Weekly Hours: 36 or 48 hours guaranteed
• Number of Openings: 1
• Call Requirements: No call
• Float Requirements: May be required to float within a 25-mile radius of the facility
• Patient Population: Adults aged 18-65 with anxiety, depression, manic disorders, borderline personality disorder, suicidal ideation
• Patient Ratios: 1 nurse to 6 patients
• Unit Beds: 14 beds, average daily census around 7
• EHR System: MediTech

Requirements

• Licensure: Registered Nurse (RN) license required
• Education: ADN or BSN required
• Certifications:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • Crisis Prevention Intervention Training (CPI)
• Experience: Minimum 2 years in Behavioral Health Nursing (BHU)
• Prior Travel Experience: Required (candidates without prior travel experience will be rejected)

Onboarding & Compliance

• Must have Iowa SING background check clearance (criminal and child abuse portions) – no exceptions
• All background checks (county and state) must be fully cleared prior to start; no instant or statewide searches accepted
• Mandatory reporter certification required (child and adult)
• Drug test: 10-panel screening including opiates
• Immunization titers within the last 12 months for MMR, Hep B, Varicella, and TB
• Start days allowed: Monday or Tuesday
