Unit Overview

Cares for obstetric patients 20+ weeks gestation, including labor management, vaginal and cesarean deliveries, OB emergency/triage evaluations, and postpartum surgical patients such as tubal ligations.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Texas
• Labor and Delivery (2 years of experience)
• Labor and Delivery experience within the last year
• BLS issued by American Heart Association
• AWHONN Intermediate FHM or NCC Electronic Fetal Monitoring (C-EFM)
• NRP
• ACLS issued by American Heart Association
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing
• 2 years of experience in the related nursing specialty
• Perinatal RN Residency or recent practice in a perinatal setting

Onboarding / Training

• New experienced RNs must attend New Nurses Orientation within the first 30 days of hire
• New hires complete organizational entry competency validation and a Perinatal Services-specific competency validation
• Annual competency verification is required

• Temp-to-perm may be an option if department openings are available at the end of the contract
