Job Overview

Shift: Nights, 7:00 PM–7:00 AM
Hours per week: 36
Weekend requirement: Rotating every other weekend
Call requirement: Minimal

Labor & Delivery RN with OB/GYN and simple med/surg overflow

Required Qualifications

Valid RN license in North Carolina
Labor and Delivery (2 years of experience)
Labor and Delivery experience within the last year
ACLS
AWHONN
BLS
NRP
Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
OR Circulate experience

Preferred

Meditech experience
Ability to circulate in the OR for Labor & Delivery

Additional Role Details

Orientation is bi-weekly
Float duties may include sitting or tasking for low census in Labor & Delivery, and rotating for low census in postpartum
Team player preferred

Pros

Doctors and most of staff are nice. Surgeries are not hard.

Cons

No staff so a lot of call. You will be on call within your first week or two, even if you don't know how to do anything. Unorganized. The director and supervisor don't know anything about the OR nor are they helpful. New staff are not properly trained. Everything falls on the OR nurse to do. They preop in house patients getting surgery. A couple of OR staff are bullies and lazy, they all think they are the boss. They tell the charge nurse what they are going to do and not going to do. Its like high school all over. Had to leave out of fear for my license.
