Physical Therapist - Therapy Acute

Location: Urbana, Illinois
Employment Type: Clinical Allied Health
Shift: Day
Hours: 8 hours/day, 40 hours/week
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

  • Evaluate and treat patients of all ages, modifying plans of care as appropriate.
  • Serve as a clinical resource and role model for staff and students.
  • Design and adjust plans of care integrating goals, treatment, outcomes, and discharge plans.
  • Educate patients, families, caregivers, students, and healthcare providers.
  • Perform examinations using reliable and valid methods relevant to patient complaints.
  • Screen patients to determine the need and effectiveness of therapy services.
  • Use and supervise support personnel according to legal and ethical standards.
  • Collaborate with patients, families, and medical teams throughout rehabilitation.
  • Provide supervision to Physical Therapist Assistants (PTA) and rehabilitation technicians.
  • Document clinical findings and care in accordance with regulatory and organizational standards.

Patient Population & Setting

  • Inpatient acute care with a caseload of approximately 190 patients.
  • 20-bed inpatient rehabilitation unit with over 50% neuro cases (e.g., CVA, TBI, SCI), lower extremity amputation, multi-trauma.
  • Facility includes a Level 1 Trauma center.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Physical Therapist license in Illinois
  • Bachelor's Degree in Physical Therapy
  • BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • Experience in supervisory roles

Experience

  • New graduates are considered; no minimum years of experience required.
