Shift Details
- Night shift
- 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM to 7:00 AM)
- Approximately 36 hours per week
- Every other weekend required
- Floating within facility/scope of practice as needed
- No call requirements
- Holiday work expectations: If 1 major holiday falls during assignment, must work it; if 2, must work both; if 3, must work 2 of them
Major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year’s Eve/Day
Department & Work Environment
- 24/7 respiratory therapy department
- Day shift: 12-16 therapists; Night shift: 10-13 therapists
- Coverage includes all hospital floors, 30-bed ICU, 25-bed Open Heart unit, 25-bed NICU, and 47-bed/5 Trauma Emergency Department
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system and ventilator models Servo I, GE, Hamilton, PB840 required
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid Respiratory Therapist license in Georgia
- Minimum 1 year of Respiratory Therapist experience within the last year
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
- Experience with GE Healthcare ventilator models
Required Certifications & Licenses
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential
Compliance & Orientation
- Must be fully compliant to start on time; non-compliance results in a 2-week delay due to bi-weekly orientation schedule
- Maximum Return to Office (RTO) time: 7 days
- Number of non-billable orientation hours depends on contract length (e.g., 8 hours for 8-week assignment)
Dress Code
- Scrubs of any color except all red or all navy blue
Required Pre-Employment Documents & Health Requirements
- Valid photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
- Background check completed within 30 days prior to start, including:
- County and national criminal searches
- Sex offender registry check
- Education verification of related degree
- Diploma or transcript verification for RRT credential
- Physical exam within 12 months of start
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days of start (including amphetamines, benzodiazepines, barbiturates, cocaine, opiates, methadone, PCP, propoxyphene, THC)
- TB testing (PPD, QGold, or TSpot) within 12 months or negative chest x-ray if previously positive
- Annual TB questionnaire
- Immunizations or proof of immunity/vaccination for:
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (2 MMR vaccines or positive titer)
- Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer)
- Hepatitis B surface antibody titer or signed declination
- Flu vaccine or signed declination (required during flu season)
- Color blindness test (with alternative assessment if needed)
Additional Requirements
- Skills checklist updated within 12 months
- Verification of most recent work history (can be pending at start with proof it is in process)
- Two clinical references required
- Medication/pharmacology competency exam and dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required (with limited attempts allowed for EKG exam)
This position is suitable for experienced respiratory therapists who meet the licensure and certification requirements and are comfortable working night shifts in a high-acuity hospital setting with a diverse patient population.
