Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Issaquah, Washington
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each, 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM)
Hours per Week: 36
Job Description
- Work in Labor and Delivery with patient diagnoses including labor, preterm labor, low risk antepartum, low risk labor and delivery, post-op, pre-op, and OB-GYN care.
- Unit includes 8 labor rooms and 4 triage rooms.
- Responsibilities include circulating, OB-GYN support, post-op, pre-op, scrub, and couplet care.
- Special procedures: blood/blood products administration, cardioversion/defibrillation, use of cooling/warming blankets, drains, epidural pumps, PCA pumps, syringe pumps, wound vac, and administration of heparin, insulin, magnesium sulfate.
- Attend all deliveries including high-risk deliveries and GYN surgeries.
- Float opportunities available to postpartum and NICU units based on skill set.
- Staffing ratio ranges from 1:1 to 1:3.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Washington.
- Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery nursing experience, with at least some experience within the last year.
- Completion of at least one prior travel nursing assignment.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Current certifications:
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Fetal Heart Monitoring (FHM)
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
- Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) or AWHONN Intermediate certification
- Experience with Epic electronic medical record system.
Orientation
- Reduced Non-Billable Orientation (0 hours vs. standard 40 hours).
Required Documents and Compliance
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
- Social Security Card (as applicable)
- Background check within 90 days covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years; must be updated annually
- Education verification and transcript/diploma (required if internationally educated)
- NURSYS verification for RN license
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO, indicating ability to work
- Immunizations and health screenings:
- TDAP vaccine within 10 years (declination accepted)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months (annual updates required)
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
- Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- Seasonal flu vaccine during flu season (declination accepted)
- COVID vaccination record preferred (declinations accepted)
- Drug screening: 9-panel drug screen within 12 months (instant acceptable)
- Respirator clearance (RespSafety) required annually for travel candidates
- Fit mask test required for travel candidates (updated annually)
- References: Minimum 2 references covering 1 year of employment in a comparable specialty/setting within the last 3 years
- Employment application covering at least last 5 years of employment with explanations for gaps or overlaps
Additional Requirements
- Completion of annual regulatory and specialty-specific training modules via LMS (Workramp)
- Compliance with float policy; may be required to float to other nearby facilities
- Passport-style badge photo with neutral background required prior to start
- Completion of Epic training modules within a week of orientation
Staffing and Work Environment
- Day shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each
- Float opportunities to postpartum and NICU units based on skill set
- Staffing ratio 1:1 to 1:3
