Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Bloomington, Indiana
Shift: Night, 4 shifts of 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Unit: 2E overflow
• Charge nurse responsibilities may be required based on operational needs; training and resources will be provided. Candidates must be comfortable with this possibility.
• Must work at least 2 out of 3 major holidays; unavailable for holiday requests off on Memorial Day weekend, Father’s Day weekend, 4th of July weekend, Labor Day weekend, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.
• First-time travel nurses are not accepted.
• Local candidates are not accepted.
• Pending Indiana license, compact, or temporary license must be in hand at the time of start.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Indiana.
• Minimum 2 years of Med Surg / Telemetry experience, with at least some experience within the last year.
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association.
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).

Required Documentation & Compliance

• Valid Driver’s License or Passport (clear copy).
• Background Check within 90 days of start, including:

  • 7-year residential/work history
  • SSN Trace, County Criminal, Statewide, National Sex Offender, FACIS Level III
  • Education Verification (new travelers only; extensions may use existing verification)
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
• Transcript or Diploma (official copy required; may be pending at start).
• State License verification within 30 days before start through primary source.
• Physical exam completed within 12 months of start.
• Fit mask test within 12 months of start with approved respirators (3M N95 models or Honeywell N95). On-site fit testing available only with prior approval and limited locations.
• Negative 10-panel drug screen within 12 months of start (amphetamines, marijuana, cocaine, opiates, PCP).
• Immunizations and Titers:

  • TB test (PPD, QuantiFERON-TB Gold, or T-SPOT) within 1 year of start; if positive, chest x-ray within 2 years required
  • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; no declinations accepted
  • Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; no declinations or history accepted
  • Hepatitis B series, titer, or signed declination required
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap preferred but not required
  • Seasonal Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required for 2025-26 season; no declinations accepted
• Color Blind Exam (Ishihara or equivalent) with minimum 100% score required.
• Skills Checklist completed within 12 months and updated annually.
• Competency exams including medication/pharmacology and unit-specific competency required.
• References: Minimum 2 from recent employment within 2 years, with contacts holding charge, manager, supervisor, or higher titles.
• Employment application covering last 7 years with explanations for gaps of 30+ days.

Additional Notes

• Charge pay is offered for charge nurse duties (details not included here).
• Candidates must be willing to complete facility-specific forms and orientation materials as required.
• On-site PAPR use requires prior facility approval except at certain campuses where it is automatically approved.

This position is ideal for experienced travel Registered Nurses comfortable with night shifts, holiday work, and potential charge nurse responsibilities.
