Job Opportunity: Emergency Room Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Salem, Oregon
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Overview
- Provide quality patient care in a high-volume, high-acuity Emergency Department (ED) setting.
- Experience preferred in Level 1 or 2 trauma centers and large hospital environments.
- Shift options: Evening or Night shifts (12-hour shifts)
- Evening: 14:00–02:00
- Night: 18:00–06:00
- Work options: 36 or 48 hours per week (overtime not billable until after 48 hours if chosen).
- ASAP start date.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Oregon
- Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) experience, with at least some experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Certifications required:
- BLS issued by American Heart Association
- ACLS issued by American Heart Association
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- Preferred certification: TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
- Competency exams required with passing scores:
- General competency exam (80% passing score)
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (85% passing score)
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Valid driver’s license or state ID/passport.
- Criminal background check within 90 days of start (7-year search, including aliases, all states/counties, national sex offender, nationwide criminal, and MVR).
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and every 30 days thereafter.
- Physical exam within 1 year of start (can start with physical pending).
- Drug screening (10-panel) within 90 days of start.
- Immunizations and health screenings required:
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start (or documentation if positive).
- Tdap vaccine or facility-specific declination.
- Flu vaccine or signed declination (year-round requirement).
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella immunity documentation or vaccination/declination as applicable.
- Hepatitis B titer, vaccination series, or declination (may start with booster series in process).
- Fit mask testing to be completed onsite within the first week of starting (not required for some non-nursing roles).
- Badge photo with white background required at least 8 days prior to start.
References and Work History
- Two professional references within the last 2 years demonstrating at least 1 year in a comparable specialty.
- At least one reference must be supervisory (Charge RN acceptable) within the last 12 months.
Additional Notes
- Education verification and other background checks are required but primarily for non-licensed or non-clinical roles.
- Dress code and scrub color information will be provided.
- Required facility-specific training modules must be completed by the designated due date.
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position.
