Job Opportunity: ICU Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Burlingame, California
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM), every other weekend, no on-call required
Hours per Week: 36

Unit Details

• ICU Float position requiring floating to ICU, SDICU, Telemetry, and Med Surg inpatient units

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in California
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Minimum 4 years of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience, including ICU experience within the last year
• ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
• Ability to float across ICU, SDICU, Telemetry, and Med Surg units

Background and Screening Requirements

• 7-year background check including SSN trace with all aliases, county searches, nationwide sex offender search, education verification, and FACIS Level 3 screening
• EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, OFAC sanctions list, and Medi-Cal Suspended and Ineligible Provider List checks as applicable
• Drug screening: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months (excluding marijuana/cannabinoids per California law)
• Employment history verification covering 7 years with no gaps over 30 days; full 7 years of work history required on application
• Professional references: 2 for clinical/allied/per diem acute care candidates

Certifications and Competencies

• State license verification and NURSYS verification within 30 days of start
• Medication/Pharmacology competency exam as applicable
• Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam may be required for Telemetry units
• ICU & Med Surg/Telemetry RNs at certain locations required to take an onsite EKG exam after start
• Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB), Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI), and other position-specific certifications as applicable

Health and Immunization Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start, including clearance for work and any work restrictions documented
• Fit mask test within 1 year, renewed annually (specific mask types required; PAPR not allowed onsite at this facility)
• TB screening: Negative QGold or TSPOT within 90 days or 2-step PPD testing with annual renewal
• Immunizations or immunity documentation required for:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
  • Measles (Rubeola)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B (series or declination)
  • Varicella
• Seasonal flu vaccination or signed declination required during flu season (Nov 1 – Apr 30)
• Color vision exam by licensed healthcare provider prior to start
• Respiratory safety clearance required annually (not required for some allied roles)

Facility-Specific Requirements

• Passport-style photo for badge
• Completion and signing of facility-required documents including job description, standards of business conduct, confidentiality agreement, vendor training, code of conduct, overpayment refund policy, and regulatory orientation prior to start
• Completion of facility-specific religious accommodation forms if applicable (for facial hair or vaccine exemptions)
• Completion of Epic questionnaire (RN only) for candidates starting 11/3/2025 and onward

Additional Notes

• No prior travel experience explicitly required
• Floating across multiple inpatient units is a key job function
• Night shift with every other weekend schedule, no on-call duties
• All background checks and verifications must be current and compliant with facility and state requirements

This position is ideal for experienced ICU RNs licensed in California who are comfortable working night shifts and floating across critical care and med-surg units.
