Registered Nurse – Rehab

Location: Rio Rancho, New Mexico
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 18:45–7:15)

Job Description

  • Work in an inpatient hospital/rehabilitation setting with acute inpatient rehab patients.
  • Ability to fill in as charge nurse as needed (ACLS certification required if in charge nurse role).
  • Every other weekend required.
  • On-call is not required.
  • Patients typically stay about 14 days.
  • Single unit facility.
  • Navy blue scrubs and close-toed shoes required.
  • Charting done in Cerner.
  • Free parking available.
  • Motivated, caring, and proactive nurses preferred.
  • Locals accepted.
  • RTO (Request Time Off) must be approved at time of submission; cannot guarantee every holiday off.
  • Any call-outs require more than 24 hours’ notice.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New Mexico.
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
  • Minimum 1.5 years of rehabilitation nursing experience.
  • Rehabilitation experience within the last year.
  • Experience working in an inpatient setting.
  • Experience working in a rehabilitation setting.
  • Experience in charge nurse roles.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.

Certifications & Compliance

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred/required as noted.
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start.
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start (with specific protocols for past positives).
  • Required immunizations or proof of immunity: Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella.
  • Seasonal flu vaccination required during flu season (October 1 – March 31); declinations not accepted.
  • COVID-19 vaccination preferred; no declination or exemption required.
  • 9-panel drug screen within 1 year of start.
  • Annual skills checklist and competency exams as applicable.
  • Background checks including 7-year work/living history, sex offender registry, and federal exclusions.
  • State-specific fingerprinting required for New Mexico prior to start.

Additional Requirements

  • Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID).
  • Emergency contact form required prior to start.
  • Two professional references required for travel, allied, or per diem acute care roles (within 3 years).
  • Candidates must sign job description acknowledgment.
