Job Opportunity: Med/Surg Telemetry Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Cleveland, Ohio
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Position: Med/Surg Telemetry Registered Nurse (RN)
- Shift: Day/Night rotating shifts (7pm-7:30am / 7am-7:30pm) with possible variability to meet hospital needs
- Schedule: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (3x12's)
- Must work at least every other holiday
- Orientation includes ECG rhythm recognition test and SafeMedicate exam; passing scores required
Required Experience
- Minimum 18 months recent Med/Surg Telemetry experience
- Minimum 18 months permanent experience in the specialty prior to travel assignments
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required
Required Licenses & Certifications
- Current Ohio RN license or RN license from a Compact State (must have in hand)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification (AHA or American Red Cross)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification (AHA or American Red Cross)
- NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Ohio
- Med Surg / Telemetry experience of at least 1.5 years, including experience within the last year
- ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- NIHSS certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Required Qualifications & Compliance
- Government-issued photo ID (e.g., Driver’s License or State ID)
- Background checks including:
- FCRA compliant 7-year search
- EPLS/GSA/SAM (monthly)
- HHS/OIG (monthly)
- Fingerprinting (FBI and BCI) within 12 months, updated annually
- Education verification
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, including capability assessment for essential job functions
- Fit mask test (3M N95) within 12 months, updated annually
- Immunizations and health documents:
- Tdap vaccine every 10 years (no declinations accepted)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray as applicable, updated annually
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccinations or positive titers
- Hepatitis B vaccination/titer or declination
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- Seasonal flu vaccination/documentation (no declinations accepted)
- Drug screening: Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually (instant drug screens not accepted)
- Eye exam (Snellen) within 1 year of start
- References: 2 professional references from employment within 1 year, from manager/supervisor/charge nurse/director (co-worker references not accepted)
- Employment application including 3 years prior work history with at least 2 years clinical acute care experience in a similar area
Orientation & Training
- Completion of facility-specific online training modules prior to start (must be done on a computer using Google Chrome)
- SafeMedicate preparation materials provided for orientation exam
- Baseline competency exams during orientation: medication administration (SafeMedicate) with 90% passing score and ECG interpretation with 80% passing score
- Modules and training must be completed before clearance to start
Additional Notes
- Candidates must carry government-issued photo ID while on assignment
- Fingerprinting must be completed within 48 hours of signed contract; facility will also conduct fingerprinting onsite
- Candidates can start with fingerprint results pending if fingerprinting is completed prior to start
- Physical exam and eye exam do not need to be updated annually if currently on assignment without a break
- Candidates with gaps in employment may have additional requirements for physical and eye exams
- Latex allergy accommodations available with notification
- Medical and religious exemptions for vaccines and fit mask are accepted but require agency approval and facility review
This position is ideal for experienced Med/Surg Telemetry RNs with a strong background in acute care and telemetry, who are comfortable with rotating shifts and meeting comprehensive compliance and credentialing requirements.
