Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (ER) - Travel/Contract

Location: Manchester, New Hampshire
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Overview

  • Role: Registered Nurse in a fast-paced Emergency Room with a strong pediatric (PEDS) presence.
  • Specialty: Emergency Department (combined Adult/Pediatric).
  • Shift: 12-hour nights (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM), 36 hours per week.
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend.
  • Call Requirement: None.
  • Float Requirement: Expected to float to ICU and ED as part of a team nursing approach ("Helping Hands").
  • Patient Census: Average daily census of 70 patients, 160 visits/day, 36 rooms, 50 beds.

Experience & Requirements

  • Minimum Specialty Experience: 2 years (ER experience required).
  • Pediatric experience highly preferred.
  • Prior Travel Experience: First-time travelers NOT accepted; prior travel experience required.
  • Epic electronic health record experience required.

Certifications Required

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)

Skills & Competencies

  • General Emergency Department nursing (Adult and Pediatric).
  • Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias.
  • Triage skills.
  • Ability to assist with patient sitting and float to ICU/ED as needed.

  • Conscious sedation

  • Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) consultation

  • Point of Care Ultrasound (US/USGPIV)
  • EPOC
  • Belmont
  • Ranger
  • Teleneurology
  • Medication, documentation, and communication systems: Omnicell, Epic, SBAR, Voalte

Orientation & Training

  • Unit orientation: 36 hours (1 week of class/clinical time).
  • Pass/fail testing on dysrhythmia/EKG and medication knowledge may be required depending on unit assignment.

Additional Requirements

  • Must not have been a former employee of the associated health system.
  • Professional license and certifications must be current and match legal name on state license.
  • Background checks, drug screening, and immunizations must be completed per facility policy.
  • Physical exam within 1 year prior to start.
  • Annual fit mask test required.
  • Immunization requirements include Tdap, TB test or chest x-ray, MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella), Hepatitis B, Varicella, and seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption.
  • Drug screen: 10-panel within 14 days prior to start (with a 7-day grace period).
  • Respiratory safety clearance required.
  • Two professional references within the last 3 years required.

Work Environment & Culture

  • Team nursing approach with floating between ICU and ED units.
  • No patient assignments outside of clinical team scope.
  • Scrubs: Any color allowed.

This position is ideal for experienced ER nurses with pediatric skills and prior travel contract experience seeking a night shift travel assignment in New Hampshire.
