Job Opportunity: RRT-NICU (Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics)
Location: Boston, Massachusetts
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Requirements
Credentials:
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) required (CRT not accepted)
- Pending Massachusetts license acceptable
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
Experience:
- 2-3 years of experience in respiratory therapy
- At least 1 year experience in PICU or Pediatric CVICU
- Prior travel experience is NOT required
Schedule:
- 36 hours per week, working three 12-hour shifts (3x12s)
- No 4x12 shifts offered
- Every other weekend required
- 50/50 rotation between day and night shifts, with some flexibility to limit rotation or offer straight nights for strong candidates
Certifications & Competencies Required
Certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – required if assignment extends past 13 weeks
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) – preferred for NICU
- CHEMO certification (if applicable to Oncology)
- EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) – required for L&D (AWHONN preferred)
- Verification of professional certification (e.g., NBRC for Respiratory Therapists)
- State license verification within 30 days of start date
- NURSYS verification (for RN, LPN/LVN, AP)
Competencies:
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (required for RNs and LPNs, not required for APNs)
- Competency Exam (not required for APNs)
Other:
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) – required for Psych and Behavioral Health positions
Health & Background Requirements
Background Checks:
- 10-year criminal background check within 6 months prior to start
- Includes aliases, nationwide criminal, SSN trace, federal and state sanctions, Medicaid exclusions, and more
- International background checks if candidate has lived/worked outside the U.S. in last 10 years
- Background checks must be started within 24 hours of booking and updated annually for direct candidates
- EEC Background Check Consent Form required for Behavioral Health and Psych positions
Health Documents:
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, DO, PA, NP, or DC
- Immunizations and tests required prior to start:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (Tdap required, no declinations accepted)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray (annual requirement)
- TB Questionnaire if past positive PPD
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) – proof of 2 vaccinations or positive titer
- Hepatitis B – proof of series and/or declination
- Varicella – proof of 2 vaccinations or positive titer
- Seasonal Flu vaccine or approved exemption (must be current season)
- COVID-19 vaccine or approved exemption (initial series required; seasonal vaccine preferred but not mandatory)
- 9 Panel Drug Screen within last 12 months (not required for APNs)
- RespSafety Clearance required for all travelers (facility-specific fit testing done onsite)
Additional Notes
- Proof of name change required if documents are under different names
- Application must include 10-year work history; gaps over 30 days require explanation
- Two professional references required from two of the last three employers
- Skills checklist specific to the unit and scope of practice within one year prior to start date
- Onboarding packet to be completed approximately 2 weeks prior to start date
