Overview

• Unit size: 29-bed unit, all private rooms
• Patient ratio: 4–5:1

Required Qualifications

• BLS (AHA)
• ACLS (AHA)
• EKG
• EKG competency
• Cardiac monitoring experience
• Groin management
• Must pass a dysrhythmia exam within 48 hours of receiving offer, through UNA, with 2 maximum attempts
• Driver’s license must be provided with submittal
• Cannot live within 50 miles of the facility

Clinical Details

• Common patient types: Renal, GI, Sepsis, Mental Health
• RNs manage drips but do not titrate them; drips include Heparin, Lasix, Amiodarone, and Cardizem
• Remote Monitor Techs are on the unit; RNs are required to interpret strips and identify rhythm changes
• RT is available 24/7
• MST only takes up to 6L
• No Highflow or Bipap on the unit
• CPAP is for non-obstructive sleep apnea only
• RNs administer all breathing treatments

Scheduling and Work Expectations

• Self-scheduling is used
• Schedules are posted 4 weeks before the next 4-week schedule block
• 3 weekend shifts per schedule period
• Required to work 2 major winter holidays and 1 major summer holiday
• Standby shifts are required
• Travelers float first within the service line and overflow areas, but are not expected to float outside their skillset/LOC hired into

Orientation

• 2 orientation shifts with a preceptor

Dress Code

• RN scrubs: Navy blue
• No t-shirts
• Closed-toe shoes
