Shift & Hours
- Night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- 36 hours per week
- No on-call required
- Unit operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
Unit Description
- 34-bed unit providing modified total patient care
- Patient population: young adult through very old age (18 years and older)
- Specialty care: Medical/Surgical and Surgical Oncology
- Capable of 24-hour cardiac telemetry monitoring
- Patient ratio: 1 nurse to 6 patients
- Equipment includes Welch Allyn Vital Signs monitors and GE Telemetry Monitoring
- Electronic Medical Record system: MediTech
Staffing
- Day shift: 1 Charge Nurse, 6 Nurses, 3 Patient Care Technicians (PCTs)
- Night shift: 1 Charge Nurse, 6 Nurses, 2 PCTs
- Staffing decisions made by nurse manager, director, house supervisor, or charge nurses
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas
- Minimum 1 year of telemetry nursing experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
Preferred Qualifications
- Chemotherapy certification (required to perform chemotherapy procedures)
Typical Procedures
- Chemotherapy administration (must be chemotherapy certified)
Work Environment & Culture
- Outgoing and team-oriented personality preferred
- Dress code: Navy scrubs required
