Registered Nurse (OR Specialty) - Fargo, North Dakota

Job Details

  • Specialty: Operating Room (OR) Registered Nurse
  • Location: Fargo, ND
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks
  • Shift: Evenings (11:00 AM – 7:30 PM)
  • Hours: 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week
  • Call: 1 to 2 days per week and every 3 to 4 weekends
  • Schedule Notes: Shift may extend beyond scheduled hours as needed (not considered call back). Rotating PM shifts with staff.
  • Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:1
  • OR Suites: 25 suites, handling 75 to 100 cases daily
  • Floating: Rarely may float to other campuses if needed

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in North Dakota
  • Minimum 2 years of Operating Room (OR) experience, including experience within the last year
  • BLS Certification
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Experience in a large hospital setting (250+ beds)
  • Acute care experience
  • Orthopedics experience
  • OB/GYN experience
  • Urology experience

Job Responsibilities

  • Circulating nurse duties including:
    • Documenting and caring for patients in the operative setting
    • Sterile prepping of surgical sites
    • Catheter insertion
    • Opening sterile supplies
    • Positioning patients for surgery
    • Documenting in electronic medical records
    • Setting up and utilizing operating room equipment as directed

Equipment Used

  • Computerized charting modeled after EPIC system
  • Accudose medication system
  • Cautery devices, lasers
  • Laparoscopic and arthroscopy equipment
  • Stealth navigation system for neuro cases

Additional Information

  • Clinicians must badge in and out at the facility
  • Scrub color provided: Ceil Blue
  • Candidates living within 60 miles of the facility are not eligible
  • Candidates living 60 to 80 miles away may be considered with adjusted pay rates (not included here)
  • Candidates must disclose if previously employed by this health system; if so, last employment must have ended at least 6 months prior to submission

This position is ideal for experienced OR RNs with strong neuro and orthopedic skills, comfortable in a high-volume, acute care hospital environment with advanced surgical technology.
