Role Overview
ER RN in the ED at a Trauma Level III, Comprehensive Stroke Center with 54 beds/trauma bays.
Required Qualifications
- BLS (AHA)
- ACLS (AHA)
- PALS
- TNCC
- ENPC
- NIHSS
Unit Details
- Fast Track: Yes
- Separate triage area: Yes
- Separate holding area in the ER: Yes
- Separate psych/seclusion rooms: Yes
- In-house security 24/7: Yes
- Average daily volume: 75+ patients
- Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:4
- RT is in the ER 24/7
- X-Ray or CT in the ER: Yes
- Phlebotomy is done by both phlebotomy and RNs
- Common drips include cardiac, antihypertensive, antiarrhythmic, sedation, and analgesia
Scheduling
- Self-scheduling and block scheduling are used
- Weekend requirement: full-time and part-time staff are expected to self-schedule a minimum of six weekend shifts per six-week schedule
- Holiday work is required
- Call or standby: determined by nurse manager
- Floating: determined by nurse manager
- Shift times: 1p-1a or 3p-3a
- Schedule pattern: every other weekend or equivalent number (6-9) within a 6-week scheduling period
- Scrub color: Navy Blue
Orientation
- Clinicians must be in state for the week of orientation, even if first-day modules are remote
- Unit/department-specific orientation date and location are assigned during the week of orientation
