Registered Nurse (RN) - Nights Med Surg

Location: Chariton, Iowa

Shift: Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, 6:00 PM – 6:30 AM
Hours per Week: 36

Job Summary

• Provide direct patient care under limited supervision.
• Plan, direct, and evaluate total nursing care for Medical-Surgical patients.
• Ensure continuity of care by effectively communicating with other shifts and departments.
• Maintain confidentiality and demonstrate courtesy and cooperation with coworkers, patients, and visitors.
• Work independently using professional judgment, nursing standards, and applicable policies.
• Participate in orientation, in-service training, meetings, and other assigned duties.
• Work rotating shifts including weekends and holidays as scheduled.

Essential Functions

• Deliver nursing care by planning, organizing, and directing patient care on the unit.
• Administer medications and intravenous solutions accurately and safely.
• Maintain accurate, complete, and timely documentation in patient records.
• Prioritize workload and patient needs using gathered data.
• Communicate effectively with physicians, nurses, and other staff regarding patient needs and unit issues.
• Support and enforce infection control policies and procedures.
• Maintain professional patient confidentiality.
• Demonstrate resourcefulness and calmness in emergencies.
• Ensure needed supplies and equipment are available.
• Foster a positive work environment that promotes growth and job satisfaction among coworkers.
• Adhere to hospital policies, procedures, and standards.
• Maintain regular and predictable attendance with minimal absences.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Iowa
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Minimum of 2 years Medical-Surgical nursing experience, including experience within the last year
• Acute care nursing experience
• Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

• Shift includes night hours.
• Must be able to work independently with limited supervision.
• Must be prompt, efficient, and cooperative with all staff and departments.
