Registered Nurse (RN) - Operating Room (OR)
Location: Austin, Texas
Employment Type: Travel Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day shift, 6:30 AM – 7:00 PM
Call Requirements:
- Call required
- 4 to 5 call shifts per 6-week period minimum
- 4 to 5 late shifts per 6-week period
- Shifts available on weekends
Unit Overview
- Operating Room with 22 OR suites
- Not a trauma hospital
- Approximately 80 staff members on unit
- Patient ratio: 1:1
- One team in-house at all times during day and night shifts
- Equipment includes Robotics, Cardiac, Vascular, Neuro, Spine, Oncology, Orthopedics, Plastics, Urology, and Gynecology
- EMR system: Meditech
- Permanent positions available on unit
Typical Procedures
- Appendectomies
- Cholecystectomies
- Spine fusions
- Total joint replacements
- Craniotomies
- Mastectomies
- DIEP flaps
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Texas
- Minimum 1 year of Operating Room (OR) experience within the last year
- ACLS certification
- BLS certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in multiple service lines including orthopedics, neuro, general surgery, and robotic procedures
Work Environment & Culture
- Team-oriented, flexible, self-directed, positive attitude preferred
- Low staff turnover; several contract staff transitioned to permanent roles
- Scrubs provided; closed-toe, non-slip heeled shoes required
