Echo Tech (Echocardiography) - Travel Position

Location: Santa Fe, New Mexico
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Days, 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM (4 days/week, 10 hours/day)
Weekend Requirement: Yes
Employment Type: Travel, Full Time

Job Summary

Perform diagnostic echocardiograms on adult and pediatric patients using 2D, M-mode, and Doppler cardiac exams. Assist cardiologists during exams and coordinate with hospital departments to ensure smooth workflow and accurate billing. Participate in quality control, performance improvement activities, and on-call coverage for emergency echo exams outside regular hours.

Responsibilities

Perform technically proficient echocardiographic exams (2D, M-mode, Doppler)
Coordinate scheduling, patient transport, and communication with hospital departments
Assist cardiologists by preparing measurements and exchanging diagnostic information
Manage delivery and distribution of dictations promptly
Respond to patient needs and report changes in condition to appropriate staff
Order supplies and maintain cleanliness and readiness of exam rooms
Log patient exams and maintain accurate records
Participate in departmental and hospital-wide performance improvement initiatives
Share responsibility for on-call emergency echo coverage
Maintain equipment quality control and coordinate repairs
Stay current with advances in echocardiography and seek mentorship for skill development
Assist with other cardiac procedures as needed

Required Qualifications

Education

High school diploma or equivalent

Certification / Licenses

Valid Echo Technologist license in New Mexico
New Mexico Echo Sonographer License
ARDMS or CCI
BLS issued by the American Heart Association

Experience

Echo Technologist experience within the last year
1 year of Echo Technologist experience

Additional Information

This is a backfill replacement position
Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this role
