Position Overview

Unit Details – Emergency Department
- Unit Beds: 101
- Patient Ratios: Typically 4:1 (medical), up to 7:1 on behavioral holds
- Staffing: Techs available; support includes cardiac monitoring, triage, and unit clerks (days and nights)
- Equipment: Baxter pumps, GE monitors
- Documentation System: Cerner
- Scheduling: Every other weekend required; no block scheduling; schedule must meet department needs
- Floating Policy: No floating outside ED; must float within all ED sections
- Patient Experience: Emphasis on AIDET communication, respectful behavior, and keeping patients informed throughout their visit
Required Certifications (Must have before start date)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention)
- NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
- ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course) – within 90 days of hire
Experience & Skills
- Minimum 2 years nursing experience in a Level II trauma center or comprehensive stroke center
- Experience in a high-volume Emergency Department (>100,000 visits annually)
- At least 1 year of ER nursing experience
- Previous experience with HCA Healthcare preferred
- Teamwork mentality with ability to coach and provide real-time feedback
- Flexibility to work across all areas of the Emergency Department
- Advanced clinical skills relevant to emergency nursing
