Travel RN Opportunity - Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU)

Location: Fort Worth, Texas
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Unit Information

• Unit: Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU)
• Number of Beds: 16
• Staffing: 45 staff members, all RNs
• Patient Ratio: 2:1 (2 patients per 1 RN) for both day and night shifts
• Shift Ratios:

  • Day Shift: 1 CNC and 2:1 nurse to patient ratio
  • Night Shift: 1 CNC and 2:1 nurse to patient ratio
• Equipment Used:

  • GE monitors
  • EV 1000
  • Hemispheres
  • CRRT (NextStage)
  • Impella
  • Swan Ganz
  • Arterial lines
  • Chest tubes
  • Ventilators
• Electronic Medical Record (EMR): Meditech

Required Qualifications

• Specialty: Critical Care Nursing (Adult ICU, CVICU, Neuro ICU, or any Critical Care specialty)
• Years of Experience: Minimum 2 years of critical care experience
• Required Skills:

  • Ventilator management
  • Arterial line, central line, and chest tube management
• Required Certifications:

  • Registered Nurse (RN) License
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • NIH Certification

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience specific to CVICU, including:

  • CABG recovery
  • CRRT
  • Impella
• Meditech EMR experience
• BSN degree
• CCRN certification

Typical Procedures Performed

• Hemodynamic monitoring
• Swan Ganz catheter management
• Arterial line management
• Chest tube care

Work Environment & Schedule

• Dress Code: Royal Blue scrubs
• Floating Areas: Medical ICU, Neuro Surgical ICU, Cardiac PCU
• Weekend Requirement: 2 weekend shifts every two weeks
• On-Call: None
