Registered Nurse – ER (Travel/Contract)

Location: Olive Branch, Mississippi
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each, 7 PM – 7 AM)
Hours per Week: 36

Job Summary

Work in a Level I Trauma Center, short-term acute care hospital.
Level I Trauma experience is required.
Large hospital experience preferred.
On-call and weekend shifts as needed (no guaranteed weekend block schedule, but may be discussed).
Local candidates within 100 miles are not accepted.

Required Qualifications

Valid RN license in Mississippi.
Minimum 2 years of Trauma ER (Emergency Room) experience, with at least some experience within the last year.
Emergency Department (ED) experience.
Trauma experience.
ACLS certification.
BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
PALS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).

Experience & Skills

Minimum 3 years recent ER nursing experience strongly preferred.
Level I Trauma experience required.
Experience in large hospital settings preferred.

Certifications & Competencies

ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA or ARC only.
BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA or ARC only.
NIH Stroke Scale Certification (NIHSS) – required annually.
Additional certifications may be required depending on unit assignment (e.g., PALS for Pediatrics, TNCC preferred for ER but not required).

Background & Compliance

Background check within 60 days of start including statewide, county, federal, and education verification.
EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and annually thereafter.
Sex offender search required separately from background check.
Two recent professional references required.
Skills checklist and internal evaluation required annually or if employed with agency for 1+ year.

Documentation & Onboarding Requirements

Two forms of government-issued ID (e.g., driver’s license, social security card).
Photo for badge must meet strict guidelines (passport-style, no hats, no glasses glare, recent within 6 months).
Facility-specific dress code: Navy blue scrubs for RNs; no prints or embroidered scrubs allowed.
Submission packet includes application, references, skills checklist, state license verification, and certification information.
EPIC questionnaire required for RNs with EPIC experience (may test out of training).
Confidentiality acknowledgment must be signed prior to start.
Onsite fit test and questionnaire must be completed before start date if applicable.

Additional Notes

No first-time travelers unless they have 3+ years recent experience.
Locals within 100 miles are not accepted.
Weekend and on-call shifts required as needed.
Block scheduling for weekends generally not accommodated but may be discussed.
