Job Opportunity: PACU Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Bend, Oregon
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Overview
- Work areas: Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) and Short Stay Unit only
- Shift: Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
- Total hours per week: 36
- Floating: Will float within scope to PACU, Short Stay Unit, acute care, or sitter as needed
- Weekend work: As needed per unit requirements
- Local candidates not accepted (75-mile radius rule)
- Pending licenses are not accepted
- Return-to-Office (RTO) restrictions: Maximum 7 total days in the 13-week assignment
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Oregon
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Minimum 2 years of Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) experience, including experience within the last year
- Experience working with Pediatric patients, including pediatric experience in PACU
- Short Stay Unit experience
- One completed travel assignment
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
- Certifications issued by the American Heart Association:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
Compliance and Background Requirements
- 7-year criminal background check within 90 days of start, updated annually, including:
- SSN trace
- Counties lived/worked/school
- FACIS L3
- DOJ sex offender search
- Nationwide check
- Education verification (highest level)
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 90 days of start
- Diploma or transcript required and must be on file
- Photo for badge: Passport-style with solid background, must be submitted within 48 hours of signing and no later than 2 Wednesdays prior to start
- Facility-specific agreements and confidentiality forms must be signed and on file within the same timeframe
Health and Safety Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Immunizations/vaccinations or proof of immunity required:
- TDAP (within 10 years, given after age 19; declination accepted)
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines; booster or declination accepted for low/equivocal titers
- Hepatitis B: Positive titer required (vaccine series alone not acceptable); booster or declination accepted for low/equivocal titers
- Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines; booster or declination accepted for low/equivocal titers
- Negative TB test (QGold) within 1 year; for positive responders, negative chest X-ray within 5 years and annual TB questionnaire required
- Annual TB questionnaire required for all candidates
- Negative 12-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (not required annually)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or agency declination/exemption required during flu season (deadline December 1); masking required during high transmission
- COVID vaccine preferred but not required; vaccination record or declination/exemption required
- Respiratory safety clearance required annually and within 1 year of start
Competency Requirements
- Medication test/pharmacology competency exam as applicable
- Skills checklist required annually
Additional Notes
- On-call status: Not required
- Floating within scope to meet facility needs is expected
- Must submit proof of address to comply with local radius rule
This position is ideal for experienced PACU RNs with pediatric experience who have prior travel contract experience and meet all certification and compliance requirements.
